Camp Curtin YMCA January 2010 Results

On Saturday, January 23, 2010, the Camp Curtin Branch YMCA hosted a Student and Open Section, Free Chess Tournament. The Sponsors that made this event possible are Odell Greene, Calvin Brown, Brian Sheinfeld (Tournament Director), Crown Trophy in Camp Hill, and Jack Clauser’s Save 2 Agency.

The Student Section had 7 participants and was won by Samuel Shvartsman (Trophy). Tyler Mumma came in second (Trophy) and was also awarded a 1-year USCF membership since Samuel is already an USCF member.

The Open Section had 17 participants and was won by Joseph Mucerino ($35) with Edmund Chong ($15) coming in second place. J. R. Travers won the Class Trophy. Dave Whittaker ($15) was the top unrated player with Calvin Brown ($5) and Kenneth Robinson ($5) tying for second place. Kenneth Robinson was awarded a 1-year USCF membership as Dave and Calvin are already USCF members.

The next free chess tournament at the YMCA is scheduled for Saturday February 27, 2010.
