YMCA December Tournament Results

At the chess tournament held at the Camp Curtin Branch YMCA on December 5, 2009, fourteen participated in the Open Section and four participated in the Student Section.

The Student Section included Tommy McManus, Eddie McManus, Jullius Norris and Tyson Sounder. Jullius took first place with a 5 1/2 – 1/2 score and received a trophy plus a 1-year USCF membership. Tommy took second place with a 3 1/2 – 2 1/2 score and received a trophy.

In the Open Section, Chris Pumarejo took first place cash prize with a 5 – 0 score and Gary Waters took second place cash prize with a 4 – 1 score. Odell Greene received the Class Trophy with 3 – 2 score while Calvin Brown and Frank Alemany shared the unrated cash prizes with identical 2 – 3 scores. Frank was awarded the 1-year USCF membership.
