YMCA October Tournament Results

October 24, 2009 Non-Rated Chess Tournament at the Camp Curtain Branch YMCA


Student Section
Four students participated in the Student Section: Mike Fuller, Abigail Marconi, Jullius Norris, and Samuel Shvartsman. Abigail came in first place with a 5 – 1 result and Samuel took second place with a 4.5 – 1.5 result. Since Abigail was already an USCF member, Samuel received the USCF membership award.


Open Section
Sixteen participants competed in the Open Section. Two student participants opted to compete with their adult counterparts. Gary Waters, Jr. and Chris Couch tied for first and second place overall with scores of 4 – 1. Jimmy Crawford won the top unrated prize, the USCF membership award, and the under 1600 Class Trophy with a 3 /1/2 – 1.5 result. Calvin Brown took the second place unrated prize with a 3 – 2 result.
